MONOFIL-TECHNIK GmbH classifies all of their monofilament fishing line under the oldest protected brand name: PLATIL.
In 1949 Dr Karl Plate, the inventor of the first monofilament artificial fishing line registered this under today´s worldwide known trading name PLATIL. In 1993, the PLATIL production was moved from Bonn to Hennef.
MONOFIL-TECHNIK GmbH, which, at this time, dealt exclusively with the manufacture of monofilaments using all of the available world market thermoplastics, took over production. Now the monofilament PLATIL is provided by a monofilament specialist.
The name PLATIL is derived from two words:
The first part from ?Dr. Plate?, the inventor of the monofilament fishing line; the second part from the word ?Filament? (=thread), which resulted in the patented product.
