Adventure games:
volcanic island is a cooperative exploration board game, focused on telling and discovering a story without the pressure of a time limit.
Designed by phil walker harding, matthew dunstan and chihiro mori, it can be enjoyed by 1 to 4 people, ages 12 and up, in 4 game sessions lasting about 75 minutes each.
Working together, players explore common areas, talk to people, search for clues, and combine various items to reveal the secret of the story.
Depending on the decisions the players make, the course of history changes and there is no going back! Many different paths can be experienced during the game, with more than one possible outcome.
No component is destroyed, so it can be played multiple times with the same copy.
In adventure games:
volcanic island, you and your companions will take on the role of four students who travel to a volcanic island where mysterious events occur.
Like a point and click adventure, you will need to solve puzzles, make decisions, talk to other characters, track down clues, and analyze, combine, and use items.
Each student (sato, cataysa, ayana and jerome) has characteristic abilities and their own element.
Throughout the 4 chapters that the story lasts, on their turn the players can do one of the following three actions:
explore a location, combine two adventure cards (objects that the players have found along the way) or combine a location card with an adventure card.
To explore a location, players must search for the indicated card number to travel to that point.
By reading the selected card, players will discover what is at that point.
In addition, they will be able to acquire new objects and/or interact with others on the island.
Depending on the items found, players can try to combine them to unlock effects that can change the story in different ways.
Items can even be combined with locations, inviting players to revisit places they´ve previously explored.
Overall, depending on your decisions as a team, the story can have different conclusions.
